Human Detection Index

How good are people at spotting AI images, and is it getting harder? Every week we publish the share of correct guesses across all AI or Real puzzles, broken down by image category, by the model that made the fake, and by country.

What the index measures

• Overall detection rate: correct guesses divided by all guesses on daily puzzles that week.
• Fool rate per model: how often an AI image from each model was judged real.
• False alarm rate: how often a real photo was judged AI.
• Country ranking: average daily score for countries with at least 100 plays that week.

The first edition appears after the first full week of play. Methodology and limits are described on the methodology page. Journalists can request the underlying numbers by email.
